Who is included in your learning support program, and who is not? What does that inclusion currently look like, and what possibilities do you envision for the future?

Recently, I had a conversation with the Head of a small international school with what some may see as more limited resources. I learned more about the school, the community, and its vision and direction.

If you know me, you’ve likely heard me talk about my incredible mom. I am so lucky and so grateful. My mom has always been unwavering in her support and love. If you’ve met her, you know she is full of joy, kindness, and warmth. 

Certainty is the enemy of learning... a barrier to change and innovation.” This was a timely reminder from Andrew Hoover in his ignite speech last week at the Expanding and Enhancing Student Support Institute, hosted by the Office of Overseas Schools.

I remember the admissions conversation.  A student was returning and joining our alternative program. He was known to be “aggressive and dangerous”.

It only takes one.  One champion. One person to believe in a child. One to advocate. One to see their value, their worth.  While I hope our schools are filled with these people, the truth is, a significant impact can happen from only one.
